February 1, 2019 Sarah Garner Arnold, 92, of Pilot Mountain, NC peacefully passed away on January 29, 2019 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born March 28, 1926 in Union, SC to the late Clarke Garner and Alba Foster Garner. She grew up in Union, attended Union High School, and was graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She became a medical technologist and registered cytotechnologist and worked in various fields of science and education for her entire career. She was an avid reader, gardener, and bridge player. She was an accomplished artist. She taught Sunday School for several years and was member of United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain. She is survived by her daughters, Lydia Arnold (Robert Carr) of Charlotte, NC, Sallie A. Stone of Pilot Mountain, grandchildren Andrew J. Stone (Rose) of Winston-Salem, Sarah Stone Yopp (Jay) of Pilot Mountain, and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford J. Arnold, brother Clarke Garner, Jr., and son-in-law Daniel J. Stone. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017, the First Presbyterian Church of Union, 101 W. South Street, Union, SC 29379, and Grace United Methodist Church, 201 S. Church Street, Union, SC 29379. The family would like to give special thanks to all the neighbors on Sunset Drive, friends, and very special caregiver Kathy Marion, as well as other caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
