June 4, 2017 Mrs. Sarah Lawson Childers, age 77, wife of Rev. Paul Thomas Childers of 109 South 4th Street, Lockhart, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Union Medical Center. Mrs. Childers was born in Union, SC September 9, 1939, a daughter of the late James Vernon Lawson and Sarah Vaughan Lawson. She was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of BPO Does. Mrs. Childers was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Ginger Vinson and husband Terry; a son, Rev. Brian Childers and wife Regina; three grandchildren: Tania Cabiness, Ivy Smith and husband Trey and Brina Childers; a great-grandchild, Dylan Cabiness; three sisters: Anne Patrick, Jean Harvey and husband Ken and Patricia Vanderford and three brothers: Joe Lawson and wife Susan, Donald "Ducky" Lawson and Bob Lawson and wife Ruth. She was predeceased by a daughter, Paulette Childers; a grandson, Kenny Cabiness; a sister, Elizabeth "Peanut" Ridgeway and four brothers, Pete Lawson, William Lawson Lloyd Lawson and Fred Lawson. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Kenneth Cash, Rev Ralph Byars and Rev. Brian Childers. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Troy Vaughan, Michael Fleming, Scott Roark, Eric Allison, Arthur Jordan, Barry Anderson, Dale Lattimore and Jerry Jordan. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ladies of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, Carrie Bell Lattimore, Linda Jordan and Ruth Dabbs. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 501 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of her son, Rev. Brian Childers, 157 Hebron Church Rd., Union.
