Sarah H. Riggs

Mrs. Sarah Frances Hutcherson Riggs, age 91, of 115 Malone Ave., widow of Ellis Ray Riggs, passed away from an unexpected illness Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Mrs. Riggs was born in Union, July 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Oscar and Mae Hutcherson. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church. Mrs. Riggs is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Sanders and husband Jimmy of the home and Bonnie Abedini of Helmetta, NJ; a sister, Jenny Toney; a brother, Henry Hutcherson both of Union; grandchildren, Joseph Sanders of the home and Josh Sanders and wife Ashley of Columbia; a predeceased grandson, Jamie Sanders; great-grandchildren, Raven Sanders of the home and Zoey Sanders of Columbia. Mrs. Riggs was also predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday at the church prior to the services.
