Sharon Tucker Garner Coats

June 23, 2019 Mrs. Sharon Tucker Garner Coats, age 66, wife of Gary Wade Coats of Buffalo, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mrs. Coats was born in Union, April 30, 1953, a daughter of the late Curtis and Elizabeth Callahan Tucker. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended Winthrop College. Mrs. Coats retired from the US Postal Service after 28 years at the Buffalo Post Office and was formerly employed with United Merchants, Buffalo Plant. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and loved singing in her church. She had also sung with the Carter Family and the Faith Chapel Singers. Mrs. Coats was first married to the late William "Big Bill" Garner. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter; Whitney Garner of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Journey Genesis Pinkney, Levi Jett Pinkney and Jalaina Hope Pinkney; two step-sons, Matt Coats and Rex Coats of Rochester, NY; a sister, Stephanie Bentley and husband George of Powdersville; a brother, Steve Tucker and wife Debbie of Union; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Karla Maness and special nephew, Justin Maness. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday June 25, 2019 at Welcome Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Jarvis. Burial will be at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Josh Berry, Donnie Summer, Mike Lawson, Jim Hearn, Billy Keisler and Noah Smith. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Welcome Baptist Church, 206 Nichols Ave., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of her brother, Steve and Debbie Tucker, 151 Pineland Ave., Union, SC.
