Sherrie (Pendleton) Callahan

Mrs. Sherrie Pendleton Callahan, age 64, wife of Michael D. Callahan, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. ​Mrs. Callahan was born in Chicopee Falls, MA, December 20, 1958, a daughter of the late Hal Waldo Pendleton and Mildred McCarley Pendleton. She was a graduate of Union High School class of 1978 and earned her BA from the University of South Carolina. She was a member of First Baptist Church Union. Sherrie was a retired Union County school teacher where she helped mold and educate young minds for over 30 years. She was a staunch member of the Republican Women's Party and an avid Gamecock Club member for over 40 years. ​In addition to the love of her life and "boyfriend", Mike, she is survived by her daughter Katy Henderson and her husband, Anthony, and her son Mikey Callahan and his wife , Lea, all of Union. Mrs. Callahan is survived by a granddaughter Sarah Hope Henderson and a grandson Clarke Callahan. She is survived by a "special" son Andrew Cavender and a "special" niece Suzy Garner. Sherrie loved family very much and there are a number of other nieces and nephews included in that love. The neighborhood children were also considered family. They were always in and out of the house and were treated like her own. ​A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. ​Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service. ​Mrs. Callahan was always an advocate for childhood education and the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, bookbags filled with school supplies and or books be brought or forwarded to the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel to be donated to school children of Union County. ​The family will be at the home 173 Will Palmer Road, Union, SC. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc.
