Sidney Hope “Danny” Sanders, Jr.

Mr. Sidney Hope "Danny" Sanders, Jr., age 79, of 1420 Lockhart Hwy., widower of Johanna Watts Sanders, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mr. Sanders was born April 26, 1939 in Union, a son of the late Sidney Hope Sanders, Sr. and Nina Pearl Cogdell Sanders. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired as an Officer with the South Carolina Department of Probation, Pardon, and Parole. Mr. Sanders was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Sanders was a Mason with Masonic Lodge No. 75, a Shriner and was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1321. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Maness of Jonesville and Hope Davis and friend Keith Laster of Union; a sister, Susan Ellis and husband Tommy of Pauline; two grandchildren, Nick Maness and wife Jessica of Spartanburg and Niccole Davis of Cowpens; one great-grandson, James Tanner Maness; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family is at their respective homes.
