Stephen Ratchford Kurtz

Mr. Stephen Ratchford Kurtz, age 34, loving husband of Beverly Wilkins Kurtz, of 145 Putman Rd., Buffalo, passed peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, May 13, 2016. Stephen was born in Anderson, SC on July 22, 1981 a son of Audrea Holcombe Douglass and husband Chuck and Dwight Stephen Kurtz and wife Sally. He was a graduate of Union High School, attended Winthrop University and was a graduate of USC Upstate. Stephen was employed with DePaul Engineering with his father and brother where he was a Project Manager and Draftsman. He was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church. Stephen was a loving father, son, and brother and an avid Clemson Fan. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two sons, Daniel August Kurtz and Nathaniel Stephen Kurtz of the home; two sisters, Ashley M. Kurtz and husband Jae Wilson of Rock Hill and Claire E. Douglass of Union; two brothers, Justin D. Kurtz and wife Brandy and Joseph P. Kurtz all of Buffalo; in-laws, Roger and Hope Turner of Buffalo; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly. A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Brad Greer, Danny Canada, Brian Kurtz, Dillon Haire, Allen Whitener, and Brandon Rogers. Visitation will be held 1:30 until 3:00 PM Monday afternoon prior to the services at the funeral home. The family is at the home of his father, Dwight and Sally Kurtz, 3693 Buffalo West Springs Highway, Buffalo, SC 29321.
