Stephen Vance “Sonny” Dye, Sr.

November 7, 2017 Mr. Stephen Vance "Sonny" Dye, Sr., age 72, of 117 Ellis St., Union widower of Rebecca Ann LeMaster Dye, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dye was born in Union on April 17, 1945 a son of the late Mary Lucille Dye. He was reared in the home of his maternal grandparents the late Walter and Lillian Dye. Mr. Dye was a graduate of Union High School. He retired from United Life Insurance Company and was formerly employed with Liberty Life Insurance Company. Mr. Dye was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard Union Unit. Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie D. Brackins of Union; a son, Stephen V. Dye, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Union; his fiancée Mary Lynn Booth of the home; five grandchildren, Taylor Brackins, Morgan Hernandez, Rebecca Brackins, Gauge Taylor, and Cheyenne Dye. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Benny Green. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 3:00 PM Thursday prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
