Sybil C. Ponder

Mrs. Sybil Cathcart Ponder, age 90, of 150 Ponder Rd., Buffalo, widow of Marl S. Ponder, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 31, 2025.

Mrs. Ponder was born in Union, January 8, 1935, a daughter of the late Herbert and Marie Smith Cathcart. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from textiles having worked at United Merchants, Buffalo Plant and Her Majesty. Mrs. Ponder was a life long member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Danny Ponder and wife Gina of Pauline; a sister, Cora Synder of Buffalo; grandchildren, Danny Ray Ponder, Berry Ponder, Justin Ponder and April Parker; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Marl Dean Ponder and two brothers, Franklin Cathcart and Carol Cathcart.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 at 1:00 PM conducted by Rev. Norman Band and Rev. Melvin Shelton at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery and visitation will follow the services at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Rocky Lancaster, Larry Lemaster, Ray Clubb, Jacob Ponder, Grayson Ponder and Don Tucker.

The family also wants to issue a Special Thanks to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House and Spartanburg Regional Oncology.

The family will be at their respective homes.
