May 19, 2017 Mrs. Sylvia Snowden Knighton, age 94 of 730 N. Duncan Bypass, widow of Jay B. Knighton, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Knighton was born in Cabarrus, NC June 30, 1922 a daughter of the Allie Snowden and Lena Reagan Snowden Garner. She was a member of the Union Church of God. Surviving are two daughters, Joan Davis of Union and Judy Ford and husband Tommy of Buffalo; two sisters, Ada Mae Ashe and husband Al of Vermont and Bertha Stradley of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Wayne Davis, Corey Davis and wife Andrea, Mark Davis, Brad Ford and wife Courtnee, Suzette Bates, and Jay Ford and wife Ashley; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond Snowden, Eugene Garner, and Donald Garner. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Union Church of God conducted by Pastor Stewart Anderson and Chaplin Andrew Fisher. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens Active pallbearers will be Wayne Davis, Mark Davis, Corey Davis, Dillion Davis, Cole Davis, and Brad Ford. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Karen Lawson, Darlene Gregory, Sonja Pruitt, and the nurses and staff Spartanburg Regional Hospice. Visitation will be held 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Palmetto Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202 or to the Union Church of God, 1113 Thompson Blvd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 730 N. Duncan Bypass, Union, SC 29379.
