Sylvia J. Whitlock

Mrs. Sylvia Jones Whitlock, age 67 widow of Gerald L. Whitlock, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Whitlock was born in Union, August 11, 1956 a daughter of the late Thomas Jones and Bessie Silvers Whitlock. She was a former owner of Whitmire Café along with her husband and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Waldrop and husband Rick; a son, Kenneth Black all of Union; two sisters, Gail Bowie and husband Freddie of Jonesville and Glenda Jones of Lexington; a brother, Tony Jones and wife Cristy of Newberry; ten grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Black and a step son, David Whitlock.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church in Whitmire.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sylvia J. Whitlock Fund, PO Box 148, Union, SC 29379.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Linda and Rick Waldrop, 119 Taylor Rd., Union.
