Terry Edney Hopper, 68, of Olin, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Gordon Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 15, 1956 in Glendale, California, to the late Edney Hopper Jr. and June Hopper Gregory. Mr. Hopper was raised in South Carolina, where he graduated in 1974 from Union High School in Union, SC. Mr. Hopper was a veteran serving proudly in the US Navy. He moved to Lake Norman in 1982 to work for MacLean-Fogg. Mr. Hopper over saw the construction of the plant in Mooresville and retired in 2019 as an engineering manager. He was a man of faith and a very proud man that never asked anyone for help. Mr. Hopper was the former president of the Lake Norman Shag Club and oversaw one of the largest events they had. He enjoyed the beach, shag music, woodworking, and could work on anything. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Hopper. He is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Carolyn Miller Hopper; daughters, Christi Barkley (Scott), Katie Miller (Chris); grandsons, Tyler Barkley (Hailey), Cole Barkley, Chase Kerley (Georgia), Dru Kerley, Kyle Kerley; brothers, Tim Hopper (Kim), Ken Hopper (Shelia); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 1 at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Hopper family.
