Mr. Thomas Earl "Tommy" Nolan, Sr., age 68, husband Mary Ruth Hawkins Nolan, of 841 Sardis Rd, Union, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Nolan was born in Spartanburg, SC on June 22, 1945 a son of the late Vivian Marie Nolan Bowman, he was reared in the home of his grandparents, the late Clarence and Clara Belle Nolan. Mr. Nolan was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. He was retired from the City of Spartanburg. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Thomas Earl Nolan, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Spartanburg; a grandson, Blake Nolan of Spartanburg; a granddaughter Allison Nolan of Spartanburg; a sister, Sandra Grayshock of Boiling Springs; an aunt, Mary R. Hawkins, of Spartanburg; two brother-in-laws, Marion Hawkins, of the home and Joseph Henry Hawkins, of Nashville, TN; and a niece, Tiffany Hawkins, of Tellico Plains, TN. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Donald O'Dell, Rev. Bob Allen, and Rev. Don Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2:45 PM Saturday at the church prior to the services. At 3:00 PM at Sunday, February 16, 2014 a Celebration of Life will be held at Golightly United Methodist Church, Highway 56, Spartanburg, conducted by the Rev. Louis Jameson and Rev. Bob Allen. Active pallbearers will be Roger Bailey, Terry Humphries, Perry Haney, Franklin Martin, Don Wells, Sammy Smith, Donnie Hooper, and Bobby Davis. The following are asked to assemble at 2:45 PM Saturday at the church to form the honorary escort, Neil and Janice Howell, Mr. and Mrs. Brent Bryson, Judy Bailey, Melinda Sorrow, Sammy and Mary Ellen Smith, Larry and Cynthia Yarbrough, Vicki Haney, Lee and Lois Sanders, Paul and Phylis Burgess, the Nurses and Staff of ICU and the 3rd floor of Wallace Thomson Hospital, Rhonda Gibson and the Staff Heartland Healthcare, Dr. Robert Yannetti, Dr. Robert MacDonald, Dr. Paulo Zortea, and the staff of Blue Ridge Hospice.
