Tony Scott Trakas

Mr. Tony Scott Trakas, age 64, of 148 Springdale Drive, Union, widower of Betsy Rector Trakas, passed away, Monday, July 25, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Trakas was born September 12, 1957 in Union, a son of the late James and Vivian Smith Trakas.  He was a 1976 graduate of Union High School where he was a member of the UHS Marching Band.  Mr. Trakas was attended Spartanburg Technical College and received his certification as Master Electrician in Iowa.  He retired as an electrician having worked with Duke Energy, Wallace Thompson Hospital, and Union County Schools.  Mr. Trakas was an accomplished musician, he enjoyed singing, writing music, and playing various instruments.

Surviving are a son Jarod Trakas and wife Sara of North Carolina; a step-son, Derik Vanderford and wife Maria of Union; and three grandchildren, Amariyah Trakas, Leonidas Trakas, and Genny Vanderford. He is also survived by a sister, Janice T. Belue and fiance Bill Massey of Union; four sisters-in-law, Ann Trakas, Jane Wilkes, Tomi Vaughn, and Harriet Cohen all of Union; two close friends, Bradley Defreese and Mike Henderson; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Trakas and a step-son Paul Derrick Hiles.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Lee Phillips.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Henderson, Simp Vaughn, Derrick Greene, Clay Alexander, Steve Greer, and Buddy Wilkes.

Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.
