Mrs. Trudy Carol Wilburn Painter, 77, passed into eternal life on Thursday October 31, 2024, after a brief illness. Trudy was the much-loved baby of her family, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Murray Clarence and Pauline Trakas Wilburn of Union.
Trudy was born September 16, 1947. She was a 1966 graduate of Union High School. In her youth, she played the flute, and she was a champion hula hooper. Years ago, she loved to make wreaths and gifted many of them to family and friends. Laughter was a big part of her personality. She always tried to make people feel better. She had a huge heart and was always willing to help others.
As she passed through the Pearly Gates, her Savior welcomed her. She was also met by her parents and her brother, Johnny. There is a happy reunion in Heaven today.
Left to mourn her absence are her son, Jamey Painter (Kristy); a granddaughter, Ashley Painter McCollum (Blake); three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Harper and Harrison McCollum; a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Silvio Sommer; and her nieces, Kristi Sommer, Lory Grissom, and Kathryn Sommer Gough (Phil). She was predeceased by a brother John Robert Wilburn.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30PM Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Mr. Terry Lawing.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 951, Union, SC 29379.
The family is at their respective homes.
