Vannie Edward "Eddie" Porter

Mr. Vannie Edward "Eddie" Porter, age 76, husband of Angie C. Porter of 174 Armory Road Union, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 22, 2023.

Mr. Porter was born in Chester, SC on August 15, 1947, a son of the late Hoarce L. and Edna Robbins Porter. Mr. Porter was a former employee of Carlise Finishing Cone Mills for 33 1\2 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and Lockhart National Guards.

Mr. Porter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a avid Clemson fan and a member of Lockhart First Baptist Church. Mr. Porter was a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Rock Hill Valley of Scottish Rites, member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge # 244 and honorary member of several other lodges.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 42 ½ years are his children, Christopher Porter of the home, and Wendy Porter Callahan and husband, Mark of Greenville; 4 grandchildren, Ethan Callahan and Wylie McWhorter both of Greenville, Peyton Callahan of New York and Jensen Callahan of Greenville; also a very special niece, Hillary Fowler McWhorter of Greenville, a sister, Carolyn Belue of Union and brother, Sonny Porter of Chester; numerous nieces and nephews; and 2 fur babies, Harley and Bailey.  Mr. Porter was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Yvonne Porter, 9 sisters and 2 brothers.

Graveside Services with Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Lockhart Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Dr. Steve Lemons.

Active pallbearers will be Sammy Webber, Benny Melton, Bill Summerville, Mark Callahan, Peyton Callahan and Jensen Callahan.

Visitation will follow immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery.
