Vegia Ivey Gregory

Mrs. Vegia Ivey Gregory, age 84, wife of Fred L. Gregory, Sr, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at Inverness ALF, Spartanburg, SC. Mrs. Gregory was born in Union, SC May 29, 1932, a daughter of the late Autrey Ivey and Rosa Blackwell Ivey. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and received an Associate Degreee in Early Childhood Education. She had worked for the South Carolina Department of Social Services, the Selective Service and retired from the Internal Revenue Service. She was one of the first women to become a Revenue Officer. Upon retirement Mrs. Gregory worked with the Union County Tax Office. She was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Fredrick L. Gregory, Jr and wife Cecilia of Raleigh, NC and Phillip Wayne Gregory and wife Sandra of Great Falls, SC; two grandchildren: Matthew Gregory of Raleigh, NC and Kathryn Gregory of Seattle, WA. Mrs. Gregory was predeceased by four brothers. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cannon. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, S.C. Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at their respective homes.
