Vera Copeland

Mrs. Vera Trakas Copeland, age 85, of 167 Bailey Rd., Buffalo, widow of Maxie Edward Copeland, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Mrs. Copeland was born in Union, September 5, 1938, a daughter of the late Spiro Pete Trakas and Virgie Elizabeth Coleman Trakas. She was a graduate of Union High School and Pearson School of Cosmetology. She was the retired owner and operator of Vera's Beauty Shop. Mrs. Copeland was a member of Buffalo Methodist Church and was an avid quilter and a member of the Patchwork Quilters group. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a son, Michael Copeland of Buffalo; three granddaughters, Wanda Copeland Smith and husband Chris, Sarah Copeland and Sally Copeland Dotson and husband Wade; and three great grandchildren, Hannah Madison Copeland, Matilda Reese Vassey and Greyson Copeland Smith. She was predeceased by nine siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Buffalo Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Jeff Farmer. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Wade Dotson, Chris Smith, Cade Sweezy, Dean Howell, Nick Ward and Mitchell Ward.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of her son, 151 Bailey Rd., Buffalo.
