August 31, 2017 Mrs. Vera Lucille O'dell Johnson, 69 of 163 Gilead Hills Drive, Jonesville, encircled by the loves of her life went home to be with Lord, Thursday, August 31, 2017. Lucille was born January 3, 1948, the eldest daughter of the late Curtis and Emma Mae Fowler O'dell. She grew up on the Jonesville mill village until she married her love of fifty-three years, William T. "Sonny" Johnson, Sr. on July 25, 1964. Lucille leaves behind two loving children, William T. "Todd" Johnson, Jr. and wife Anita of Jonesville and Tolya Johnson Hayes and a friend Ray Cleveland of Easley. In addition are four precious grandchildren: William Curtis Johnson and wife Leslie Gideon, Hanna Wade all of Jonesville, Molli Johnson and friend Kory Chadwick of Pacolet and Charles "Zach" Hayes of Jonesville and eight great-grandchildren. Lucille worked as a local mill worker until she and her sister and best friend, Teresa O'dell Wright and husband Bruce established T&L Diner, one of Jonesville's longest standing restaurants for thirty years. She enjoyed creating meals for her family, friends and the community. Lucille savored her family and friends as well as her fur babies, all of which gave her endless hours of joy. A member of Jonesville Baptist Church, she was a strong, God fearing woman, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and a lover of all animals. Her journey includes spending time with the ones she loved and traveling with family and friends. She will remain a constant light forever in our hearts. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Randy Burgess. Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 PM Saturday at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel prior to the graveside services. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the nurses and staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice and especially Rachel and Nicole for their care of Lucille during her illness. The family will be at the home, 163 Gilead Hills Drive, Jonesville.
