Virgil O. Childers

Mr. Virgil O. Childers, age 80, of 849 Bob Little Rd., Jonesville, widower of Angela Farr Childers, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Childers was born in Cherokee Co., April 10, 1943, a son of the late Coley Homer Childers and Ruth Lee Huskey Childers. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Limestone. He was a retired Chief Master Sergeant from the US Air Force. He was an avid Clemson fan and a founding member of the Union County Clemson Club where he served as President. Mr. Childers was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Chera Stapleton and husband John of Union; grandchildren, Christopher Stapleton and wife Eva, and Brandon Stapleton and great-grandchildren, Cooper Stapleton, Fendley Stapleton, Karson Stapleton and Jacob Daniel. He was predeceased by a brother, Jodean Childers.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Lee Coyle and Rev. Chad Ponder.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1622 Kelly Rd., Union, SC 29379 or to the Epworth Children's Home, 2900 Millwood Ave., Columbia, SC 29205.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, 104 Park Dr., Union.
