Virginia H. Toney

Mrs. Virginia Hutcherson Toney, age 86, of 105 Barron St., Union, widow of Robert Virgil Toney passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Union Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Toney was born in Union, March 9, 1930 a daughter of the late Oscar and Mae Howell Hutcherson. She was retired from United Merchants and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Robert Miller Toney and fiancée Marta M. Valentino of Union; a brother, Henry Wofford Hutcherson of Union; two grandchildren, Robert Paul Toney and wife Jennifer, of Massachusetts and Shannon Toney Smith and husband Michael of Florence; great-grandchildren, Rachael Brianne Toney, Samantha Marie Toney, Charlotte Elizabeth Toney, Cathrine Renee Toney and Madeleine Elizabeth Smith. Mrs. Toney was predeceased by brothers and sisters: Evelyn Gregory, L.C. Hutcherson, Harry Hutcherson, Hazel Willard, Sara Riggs, Mary Eubanks, Helen Hutcherson and Jack Hutcherson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Holcombe Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Josh Freeman and Rev. Richard Lewis. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Harris, Mike Henderson, Gene Duckett, Michael Smith, Jerry Willard, Robert Paul Toney, Andrew Willard and Troy Wright. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Hutcherson and Dennis Hutcherson. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
