Wallace Wayne ‘Cooter’ Garner

August 22, 2018 Wallace Wayne "Cooter" Garner, age 73, of Smyrna, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, August 26, 2018, in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Interment will be 2 pm, Monday August 27, 2018, in the Georgia National Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the funeral home. A US Navy veteran, Mr. Garner was a self-employed as a painter and home remodeler. He was a member of the American Legion Post #160, the Smyrna Moose Lodge, Nelms Masonic Lodge, and he was a Shriner. Mr. Garner was born on April 27, 1945 was preceded in death by his parents Wallace Woodrow and Evelyn Medlock Garner and a son, Danny Joe Shaw. Surviving is his loving wife Sue Garner of Smyrna, Ga, a son, Donnie Garner of Union, SC, a daughter, Karen (Jon) Kendrick of Union, SC, a son Shawn Garner of Union, SC, a son Eric (Brittany) Garner of Carrollton, GA, a daughter, Tammy (Brian) Molett of Lockhart, SC, and a daughter, Darlene Hammett of Franklin, Ga. He is also survived by a brother Ronald "Goober" (Sandy) Garner of Union, SC, a sister Brenda (Jet) Henderson of Union, SC, a sister Freddie Foster of Union, SC, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
