Mr. Wallace Reid Russell, age 86, of Jonesville, went home to be with our Lord, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Union Medical Center. He leaves behind the love of his life for 63 years, Shirley Giles Russell.

Mr. Russell was born in Blackwater, VA, July 12, 1938, a son of the late Benjamin Harrison Russell and Leona Goins Russell. He was a graduate of Blackwater High School and Cecil's Business College. Mr. Russell was a proud veteran of the US Army.

He was the owner and operator of Maverick Furniture in Spartanburg for many years with his wife by his side.  "Maverick" as he was affectionately known, was also a farmer and cattleman who loved to be outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He was a Shriner and Mason and had served on the Board of the Rocky Creek Water Co. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights of the world.

He was the patriarch of a 22-member family which he led with encouragement, tenacity, humor, and humility. He loved deeply, forgave easily, and lived his life with authenticity.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mitzi Brannon and husband Jerry of Glenn Springs, Sonia Kelly and husband Timothy of Spartanburg and Suzanne Lee and husband Wally of Jonesville; a son, Benjamin Harrison Russell, II of Jonesville; and two brothers, Kyle Russell of Bridgeport, WVa. and Bruce Russell of Richlands, Va. He is also survived by grandchildren, Amanda Thompson (Will), Hayley Brannon, Faith Brannon, Brooke Wilson (Daniel), Leona Grace Kelly, Dr. Jamison Lee, Jacob Lee, Jeni Wren Lee, Kayla Pruitt and McKenzie Russell (Tyler) and great grandchildren, Rowan, Reagan, Wesley, Neelie, Maverick, and Caroline. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and many special friends.  Mr. Russell was predeceased by two sisters, Jeanette Russell, and Peggy Ellison and a brother, Sam Russell.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Angelia Price, Marlene Sprouse, Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey and Jerry Brannon. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Will Thompson, Wally Lee, Jerry Brannon, Timothy Kelly, Lesesne Scott, and Jacob Lee.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
