Walter Hope Garner

Mr. Walter Hope Garner, age 77, husband of Barbara Fowler Garner of 138 Woodhaven Dr., Union, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. Garner was born October 21, 1943 in Union, a son of the late Archie Garner and Catherine Sanders Garner.  He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from Carlisle Finishing Plant. Mr. Garner was a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard Jonesville Unit.  He was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church and attneded First Baptist Church of Union.  Mr. Garner was a member of Woodcarvers.  He was a kindhearted generous man who enjoyed helping others in any way he could.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Donna G. Sinclair and husband Mitch of Union; two grandchildren, Joshua Sinclair and Kayla Sinclair; two sisters, Joyce Parris and husband Mike of Union and Kathy Sappington and husband Ronnie of Mississippi; and a brother, Alvin Garner and wife Gail of Lake Wylie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Union conducted by the Rev. Robbie Stollger and Rev. Bob Cato.  Burial will follow at Pacolet Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will Scott Parris, Brad Parris, Kyle Fowler, Rostin Fowler, Duane Ritch, and Eddie Kelly.  Mr. Garner's wood carving friends are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
