Wanda "Gaga" Putnam Holcombe, 84, of 107 Lindy Lane, Buffalo, widow of Carl Lindbergh Holcombe, went home to be with the Lord at her home on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Mrs. Holcombe was born in Marion, N.C., on Feb. 8, 1931, a daughter of the late John R. Putnam, Sr., and Pearl Meadows Putnam. She was a graduate of Union High School. She was retired after working at Monarch Mill, Her Majesty and Conso. She was a faithful member of Buffalo Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mrs. Ruth V. Lawson Sunday School Class. She taught the 3-Year-Old Sunday School Class for 40 years. She was very involved in the WMU of the church and was a board member of the Buffalo Community Center. She loved the Lord, her church, her church family and she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Holcombe was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl Moss and her husband, Mike; Jo Ellen Addis and her husband, Raymond; and Anita Ward and her husband, Tony "Speedy" all of Union; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Moss, Kevin Addis and wife Leigh, Daniela Peagler and husband Daniel, Shaun Moss and wife Nalann, Jessica Holley and husband Robert, Mitchell Moss and wife Destiney, Ashley Owings and husband Kyle, and Britni Ward; eight great-grandchildren, Caroline Addis, Cameron Addis, Addison Peagler, Lanna Mae Moss, Olivia Bree Moss, Julia Holley, Ace Stevens and Walt Holley and a special friend, Catherine Smith. Mrs. Holcombe was predeceased by three brothers, John R. "J.R." Putnam Jr., Richard Putnam and Raymond Putnam; and a sister, Merle Prince. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Ford, Rev. Tim Anderson, Rev. Shannon Faulkner and Rev. Ron Culberson officiating. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Moss, Kevin Addis, Shaun Moss, Mitchell Moss, Daniel Peagler and Robert Holley. The following are asked to form the honorary escort: Ruth Ann Anthony, Ruth Lancaster, Jean Woods, Ben and Melinda Wages, David Sullivan, Pearl Crocker, Brenda Wells, Nancy Long, Linda Betenbaugh, Betty Jo Simmons, Sherry Kendrick, Tonya Proctor, members of the Buffalo Baptist Church Choir, and employees with Medi Home Hospice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Stephanie Edwards and Candice McSwain. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, 1424 Main St., Buffalo, SC 29321 or to the charity of one's choice. The family is at the home, 107 Lindy Lane, Buffalo.
