Wanda M. Sturgill

Mrs. Wanda Marie Meade Sturgill of Jonesville, passed away April 25, 2016 after a brief illness. Mrs. Sturgill left this world to be with God and her husband with her loving family by her side. She was 88 years old at the time of her passing. A memorial service and celebration of her rich and fruitful life will be held at Mt. Joy Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Her family will receive friends at the church prior to the services, starting at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Mt. Joy Baptist Church, 657 Pea Ridge Hwy., Jonesville, SC 29353. The family is at the home of her daughter, Carla and Eddie Rector, 400 Seigler Rd., Union. Mrs. Sturgill, who was originally from Pound, VA, was an active and long-time member of Mt. Joy, where she served as church secretary for over 45 years. A dear friend to all those fortunate enough to know her, she was first and foremost known as an incredibly wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Never has one been so special to so many. Mrs. Sturgill was predeceased by her brothers, Harold and Kenneth and her husband of 63 years, the late Mr. Ulus Carson Sturgill. She is survived by her brothers, Larry and Jerry, her daughter Glenda Lawson and husband Gerald, her son, Terry Sturgill and wife Belinda, and her daughter Karla Rector and husband Eddie. Mrs. Sturgill was a proud grandma, a/k/a Nana, to three grandsons, Scott Lawson and wife Kim, Erich Sturgill and wife Julie, and Jason Rector. She was also Nana to four great-grandsons; Jakob and Jordan Lawson, and Bennett and Andrew Sturgill. If one's true worth and wealth is measured in both the good that he or she does and the love that he or she shares with others while on this earth, there has never been a richer soul that Wanda Sturgill.
