Wilda Jeanne Williams

Wilda Jeanne Williams, of Union, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the home.

Born September 14, 1928 in Converse, SC, she was the daughter of the late A. Otto Williams and Ruby Ellen Cash Williams.

Miss Williams was a graduate of Union High School.  She retired as the office manager for City of Union Utility Department, where she worked from age 17-47.  She also worked at Wachovia Bank and H&R Block.  Miss Williams was a member of First Baptist Church of Union, where she was involved with the Pearl Johnson Baptist Women, the Chancelor Choir, the Handbell Choir and she taught Girls in Action (GA's). She also served in the Pearl Johnson Library.  She was a Past-Secretary of the William Wallace Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and was a member of the Union Clemson Club. She loved to travel with Christian Tours. Miss Williams was a devoted member of the Union Community and loved her family dearly.

She is survived by three nephews, Judson Meador and wife Dena of Buffalo, Ben Meador and wife Katie of Mauldin, Mark Meador and wife Angie of Union; eight great-nieces and nephews: David Meador, Jennifer Meador Kompanik (Jim), Michael Meador (Sarah), Joshua Meador (Daisy), Matthew Meador (Heather), Stephanie Meador Smith (Vance), Ashley Meador Bryan (Chris), and Daniel Meador.  She is survived by twelve great-great niece and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister Martha Williams Meador and husband Felder and a sister Mary Ellen Williams, all of Union.

Special thanks to those who have cared for Jeanne during her time at home, including Terri Foster, Vonda Morris, Jessie Wicks, Linda Johnson, Doris Straley, Chloe Meador and Linda Gavin. The family would like the caregivers to sit in a reserved area in appreciation for all their service and love given to Jeanne.  She was also under the care of Spartanburg Regional Hospice and family is grateful for the care she received.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Sanders Read. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Sunday at the chapel prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Noah Meador, Kyle Nance, Mike Nance, Whitney Smith, Harrison Ouzts, and Dale Lanford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 405 E. Main St., Union, SC 29379.

The family is at the home, 217 Hillcrest Drive, Union, SC 29379.
