Mrs. Wilhelmina Howell "Willie" Kirby, age 81, of 1214 S. Pinckney St., Union, widow of Ernest E. Kirby, formerly of Hancock St., went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Mrs. Kirby was born in Union, June 4, 1935, a daughter of the late William Henry Howell and Emma Gregory Howell. She was a founding member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Pauline Heinz and husband Steven and Sara "Chinki" Manis all of Union; two sons, Michael Scott Kirby of Spruce Pine, NC and Ernest "Bubba" Kirby of Union; 14 grandchildren, David Babb, Jamie Babb, Fletcher Roberts, Kristi Roberts Hawkins, Devin Heinz, Sandy Gilkinson, Adrian Taylor, Shane Thompson, Colt McDaniels, David Kirby, Christopher Vanderford, Brittany Thompson, Adam and Cheyanne Kirby; a number great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special caregivers, Teresa Humphries, Donna Floyd and Betty Brown. Mrs. Kirby was predeceased by two sons, Kenny Kirby and Danny Prather and by three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2016 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Randy Smith and Rev. David Berry. Burial will be at Pacolet United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Kirby's grandsons will serve as the active pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Union Co. Humane Society, 218 N. Pinckney St., Union, SC 29379 or Gentiva Hospice, 1261 S. Duncan ByPass, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Shirley and Steven Heinz, 102 Fant Lane, Union.
