Mr. William L. "Bill" McSwain age 77, husband of Pasty Foster McSwain of 406 Bentley Town Rd., passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. McSwain was born in Lockhart, July 10, 1938, a son of the late Buford and Mildred Bentley McSwain. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and was retired Chief Petty Officer with the US Coast Guard. Mr. McSwain was also retired from Milliken and Co., Monarch Plant and formerly worked with Piedmont Fork Lift. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he served as a Greeter. Mr. McSwain was also a Shriner and a Mason. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Mary Ann Gill and husband Wayne; a son, Robert McSwain and wife Betty all of Mobile, AL; a step-son, Brian Craig; a sister, Joyce Crocker and husband Jim all of Lockhart; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with two on the way and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Josh Crocker. Burial with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Crocker, Randy Crocker, Terry Bentley, Jackie Parks, Wayne Hutcherson and Lemond Vanderford. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 3:15 PM to form the honorary escort: Keith Parks, Eddie Roberts, Wayne Porter, Bentley Burr, Brian McSwain, Butch Carter, Dr. Robert Wentz, Randy McSwain and Ryan McSwain. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:30 PM Saturday at the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Philippi Baptist, 137 Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of his sister, Joyce and Jim Crocker, 203 South 6th St., Lockhart.
