William Mason “Billy” Wade

Union, SC Mr. William Mason "Billy" "Pop" Wade, age 83, of 100 Fifth Street, Union, widower of Betty Gault Wade, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his home. Mr. Wade was born in Union on April 2, 1931 a son of the late Frank T. Wade and Nettie Howell Wade. He retired from Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing Plant. Mr. Wade was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Wade was first married to the late Thelma McCall Wade. Surviving are a son, Joe Wade and wife Sandy of Union; a fiancée and best friend, Shirley White; four grandchildren, Scotty Wade of Union, Brandy Wade Wilson and husband David of Union, Ritchie Wade of Union, and Carmen Wade of Spartanburg; six great-grandchildren, Seth Wade and wife Lacey, Logan Wade, Nick Wade, Kaigan Wade, Lil Ricky Wade, and Kinsleigh Wade all of Union; one great-grandson, Mason Wade; two brothers, Tom Wade and wife Gaynelle and Jackie Wade and wife Mary all of Union; two sister-in-laws Margaret Wade and Linda Wade both of Union; and a granddaughter-in-law, Laurel Wade. He was predeceased by a son Rickey Wade; a grandson, Shane Wade; five sisters, Lucille Wade, Ruth Leonhardt, Grace Baldwin, Julia O'Shields, and Verlie Hodge; six brothers, Frank Wade, Jr., Cecil Wade, Boyce Wade, Darrell Wade, Donald Wade, and Olin Wade. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Ottaray Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Wade's nephews. The following are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Roller Print Associates at Cone Mill, the staff of Dialysis Clinic, Inc. of Union, staff and nurses of Blue Ridge Hospice, the Deacons of Ottaray Baptist Church, the staff of Wade's Employment and Gene Gregory. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:30 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 103-B South Boyce St., Union, SC 29379 or to Ottaray Baptist Church, P.O. Box 70, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of his son, Joe and Sandy Wade, 233 Monroe Street, Union.
