William T. Howell, Sr.

Mr. William T. Howell, Sr., age 102 of 2170 Graystone Dr.,Sumter, SC , widower of Edith Kirby Howell, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Palmetto Health, Tuomey Hospital. Mr. Howell was born in Cherokee County, SC March 12, 1915, a son of the late Willie Howell and Bridgie Howell. He was a graduate of Kelly Pinckney High School and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. Howell retired as co-owner of Bridges Construction in Heath Springs and was a Veteran of the US Army having served in World War II. Surviving are two sons: Steve Howell and wife Tami and Tommy Howell and wife Sandra all of Sumter; a sister, Sara Ann Farr of Pea Ridge; three brothers: Donald Hope Howell of Union, Charles Howell of Charleston and Bill Howell of Laurens; five grandchildren: Grayson Howell, Marcus Howell, Mallissia Howell White, Trey Howell and Stephanie Howell Barrineau; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Howell was predeceased by a sister, Callie Clark and brothers, J.E. Howell, Eugene Howell, Ned Howell, Irvin Lee Howell, Russell Howell and Howard Howell. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mike Moody. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 915 S. Pinckney Street, Union, SC 29379.
