William Thomas Johnson, Sr.

Mr. William Thomas "Sonny" Johnson, Sr., age 78, of 163 Gilead Hills Dr., Jonesville, widow of Lucille O'Dell Johnson, passed away February 22, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Johnson was born January 10, 1944 in Union, a son of the late William "Bill" Johnson and Ada Carter Johnson.  He was a 1964 graduate of Union High School and retired after 41 years from Milliken & Co.—Whitestone Plant.  Mr. Johnson loved his family, fancy cars, woodworking, NASCAR, flea markets, and taking long country rides in the evening.  He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Surviving are a daughter, Tolya Hayes and Ray Cleveland of Easley; a son, William Todd Johnson and wife Anita of Jonesville; a sister, Elizabeth Cooksey and husband Jim of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Curt Johnson and wife Leslie, Hanna Wade and husband Christopher Adkins, Molli Johnson, and Zach Hayes; and eleven great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl Carter and Charles Johnson and two sisters, Reba Franklin and Barbara Black.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 28, 2022 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Randy Burgess.

Active pallbearers will be Sam Inman, Jr., Daniel Lewis, Gregg Sanford, Jr. Waylon Kerr, Dawton Peters, and Ty Peters.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday evening at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family is at the home 163 Gilead Hills Rd., Jonesville, SC 29353.
