William H. Maness

Mr. William H. Maness of 105 Kennedy Circle, Union, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The son of the late Sterling E. and Charity Minor Maness, he was born on January 31, 1933, in Buffalo, SC.

Mr. Maness was a veteran of the US Navy having served in the Korean Conflict. He was employed with United Merchants, Buffalo Plant until the closure of the mill, after which he went to work for Greenleaf Corp. Mr. Maness was a Past Master of the Duncan Masonic Lodge #256, a member of the Buffalo American Legion Post 87, and was a member of the Redmen Tribe #40.

He was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where he had served on the Board of Trustees in the past.

Mr. Maness is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Harrison Maness; two sons, James Lancys Maness and wife Donna of Anderson and Joseph David Maness of the home; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Maness Hiott and husband, Cody of Belton and Deborah Ann Maness of Anderson; one great-grandson, James Wayne Hiott; one sister, Ruby Ford of Buffalo and one brother, Jim Maness of Union. Mr. Maness was predeceased by brothers, Elmer, Loyd, Ralph and Glennis and by sisters, Cecil Smith, Valice Maness, Fannie Barker, Geneva Maness and Elsie Maness.

Graveside services with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Richard Lewis and Rev. Kurt Stuttler. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

Members of the Buffalo American Legion Post 87, Duncan Masonic Lodge #256 and the Buffalo Redmen Tribe #40 are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and management of Walmart.
