Mr. William Michael Morgan, 73 years old, passed away peacefully on December 9,2024 with many friends at his side.
Mr. Morgan was born in Goldsboro, NC, July 23, 1951, the son of the late William Elijah (Bill) Morgan and Dorothy (Dot) Tyndall Morgan McCarter. He was a graduate of Goldsboro High School in 1969, and then joined the Army. Michael completed his basic training at Fort Bragg, NC and AI training at Fort Jackson, SC, where he met and married his former wife, Jacquelyn S. Morgan. After he completed his military service, Michael set up roots in Columbia, SC, where he enrolled in Midlands Technical College where he received an Associates Degree in Business. While at Midlands Tech, Mr. Morgan was on the Dean's List and was inducted into the Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. He enrolled in the University of South Carolina College of Independent Studies after his graduation from Midlands Technical College. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration and then enrolled in the University of Washington in their Counseling program, subsequently earning his Doctorate. Michael was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church, Columbia, SC, where he taught Sunday School, was an Usher and a member of the Wesley Fellowship Class.
Mr. Morgan loved the health care aspect of life which led him to work with the Baptist Hospital in Columbia as a Unit Administrator, the Medical Center at Dutch Square as Manager, Doctors Car in Administration, Columbia Bi-Medical, Inc., as a salesman and ultimately to opening the first free standing Drug Testing Clinic in Columbia, SC; Drug Testing Service, Inc.
Michael loved life, had an infectious smile and never met a stranger. He enjoyed doing line dancing and teaching it. His hobbies were learning about wines and sharing his knowledge with his friends. He loved to write poetry and one of his favorite things to was to hang out on his balcony whith the "Blossom Street Gang". All of his friends will miss Michael's presence and smile.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Friday, December 20, 2024 at 12 Noon. Those attending should arrive no later than 11:45 AM to be in the procession to the place of service in the cemetery. The Rev. Smoak Kanipe of Shandon Methodist Church will conduct the service with music provided by Lindsey Priester.
Active pallbearers will be Dick Thomas, Rutledge Thomas, Tyler Priester, Max Luma Sulejman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Go Fund Me page of William Michael Morgan to assist with the funeral expenses.
