December 20, 2015 Mr. William H. Pruitt, Jr., age 92, formally of Buffalo, widower of Vernell Haney Pruitt went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Park Place Memory Care. Mr. Pruitt was born in Union, SC July 29, 1923, a son of the late William H. Pruitt, Sr. and Mae Catherine Hembree Pruitt. He was retired from United Merchants and manufacturing-Buffalo plant he had also worked at Conso products. A veteran of the US Army, Mr. Pruitt proudly served under General George S. Patton during World War II. In honor of his serve he had been named a Union County Veteran of the Year. He was a lifelong member of Buffalo United Methodist church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and had sung in the Men's Choir as long as his health permitted. Mr. Pruitt was a member of the Duncan Masonic Lodge 256, also had served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Surviving are a daughter, Cindy McKinney and husband James of Spartanburg; one granddaughter, Mitzi McKinney Mullinax and husband Brad of Jacksonville, FL. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Petty. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Ron Towery. Burial, with military honors will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service in the parlor of Buffalo United Methodist Church. The family is deeply grateful for the care Mr. Pruitt received at Park Place Memory Care. They are especially thankful for the relationship established with his nurse, Crystal.
