Mr. William A. “Billy” Sanders, age 78, husband of Marlene Mayo Sanders, of 145 Eison Road, Union, passed away, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Sanders was born January 18, 1948, in Union, a son of the late James “Carl” Sanders and Birdette Bogan Sanders. He was a 1966 graduate of Union High School and a graduate of Cecil’s Business College. Mr. Sanders retired from Timken & Co. as a machine operator. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during Vietnam and was retired from the South Carolina National Guard. Mr. Sanders was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. He was a member of the John A. Fant Masonic Lodge No. 75, a Shriner and a member of American Legion Post 22.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years are a daughter, Jennifer S. Jenkins and husband Matthew of San Deigo, CA; a son, William Jefferey Sanders and wife Dana of Inman; two brothers, Jimmy Sanders and wife Janis of Greenwood and Ray Sanders and wife Mary of Union; a brother-in-law, Eddie Mayo and wife Dawn of Union; six grandchildren, William Bentley Sanders, Anthony Nolan-Reid Sanders and wife Maria, Dylan Turner Sanders, Collin Jefferey Sanders, Evelyn Paige “Evie” Jenkins, and Elliott Stone Jenkins; his fur baby, Sheba; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws, Harold E. and Clorice Mayo.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Wayne Cooke and Mr. Frank Bobo. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at Union Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.
