Wilma Chalk Rymer

July 2, 2014 Mrs. Wilma Chalk Rhymer, age 92 of 1707 Whitmire Hwy., passed Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, North Carolina. Mrs. Rhymer was born in Union, July 11, 1921 a daughter of the late W.H. Chalk and Maggie Woods Chalk. She was the retired owner of City View Beauty Shop and City View Fashions of Union and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Mrs. Rhymer was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ray Rhymer. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda R. Smith of Wilson, NC and Jean Hansson and husband Dick of Greenville, NC; four grandchildren: Melanie Smith Young (Hal) of Smithfield, NC, W. Edward Smith (Stepheni) of Shanghai, China, Eric Hansson and Richard Hansson both of Greenville, NC; ten great-grandchildren, John, Caleb, Matthew, Sam, Seth David, Susannah and Katharine Young, Rachel Smith and William E. Smith, III; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rhymer was predeceased by five brothers, John, Ben, Earle, Harry and Carvil Chalk and one sister, Frances Chalk. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Benny Green. Mrs. Rhymer's grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM Saturday at the S.R.Holcombe Funeral Home prior to the graveside services.
