Wilton H. Mcgowan

January 18, 2019 Mr. Wilton Harmon McGowan, age 77 of Robin Hood Circle, Union, passed away, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at his home. Mr. McGowan was born in Claxton, GA, March 7, 1941, a son of the late Wilmer Claude McGowan and Severne Weatherford McGowan. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering. Mr. McGowan retired from the textile industry having worked in the Union area for many years. He was an avid golfer and worked at Fairwood in the pro-shop. He attended Buffalo United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher. Mr. McGowan is survived by a special friend, Sara Settles of Union; two daughters, Julie McGowan Flynn and husband Kevin of Arlington, VA and Sheryl McGowan Milligan and husband John of Colleyville, TX; one son, Kevin McGowan and wife Tracy of Acworth, GA; nine grandchildren, Mary, Henry and Celia Flynn, Johnny, Ansley and Pierce Milligan and Omie, Sam, and Porter McGowan; two nieces and one nephew. Mr. McGowan was predeceased by a brother, Larry McGowan. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church in Metter, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1990 Augusta St., Greenville, SC 29605.
