Mr. Bobby Ray “Pops” Winstead, Sr., age 76, of 246 Proctor Rd., Jonesville, widower of Brenda Ferguson Winstead, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Winstead was born in Spartanburg Co., May 24, 1945, a son of the late Clay and Ruth Odell Winstead. He was retired from Roebuck Builders and a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. Mr. Winstead served his country in the US Army Reserves and retired from the SC National Guard in 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Bobby Ray Winstead, Jr. and wife Sandra of Cowpens and Paul Eugene Winstead of Jonesville; two sisters, Dorothy Burns and Linda Davis both of Jonesville; three brothers, William Winstead of California, Clay Winstead of Pacolet Mills and Roger Winstead and wife Janet of Chesnee; a sister-in-law, Judy Messer of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Chris Winstead, Paul Eugene Winstead, Jr., Kristina Elder and Summer Moore; great-grandchildren, Hudson Elder and Sullivan Elder and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Winstead was predeceased by a sister, Betty Rector and brothers, John, Charles, David, and James “Bud” Winstead.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 3, 2021 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Dennis Tessnier.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel prior to the services.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Winstead, P.J. Winstead, Stephen Elder, Chris Brewington, Dectovias “Doc” Thompson, Eddie Threadgill and John O’Shields. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, Jimmy Rector, Kenny Rector, Jimmy Smith, and Phil Davis.
