Calvin James Nelson

            Mr. Calvin James Nelson, age 66, husband of Joyce Silvers Nelson of 119 Lanier Lane Union, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

            Mr. Nelson was born in Florida, June 14, 1957, a son Calvin Nelson and wife Jean of Easley and the late Frances Bailey Nelson. He retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing having worked in the shop for 44 years. Mr. Nelson was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Nelson was an avid chicken farmer, blacksmith, hunter, taxidermist, and collector of all things.

            Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Michelle Jett and husband Bruce, and Dollie Nelson and friend Chris Parris all of Union; two sisters, Beth Barttlet and husband David and Virginia Baldwin and husband David all of Union; and a brother, Marvin Nelson of Union. He is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Jett and wife Danielle, Cam Jett, Kayla Lipsey, Tyler Lipsey, Jada Proctor, Trey Jett and wife Lisa and Candi Jett and husband Ethan; great-grandchildren, Brentlee Jett, Jameson Jett, Kelsi Jett, Zaelyn Lipsey, Noah Lipsey, Kayden Jett, Tessa Jett and Bridget Davis and furry best friend, Heidi May Carter.

            Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 105 Lula Green Rd., Union, conducted by Brother Joe Adams. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

            Active pallbearers will be Chris Jett, Cam Jett, Trey Jett, Matthew DeHart, Corey Johnson and John Hunter Martin.

            The family will be at the home of his daughter, Michelle and Bruce Jett, 1114 Beaty’s Bridge Rd., Union, SC.
