Mr. Chester Maurice Pace, age 78, husband of Julia Patty Pace of 130 Julie Court, Pacolet, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Pace was born in Pacolet, December 18, 1943, a son of the late William Leroy Pace and Ira Parker Pace. He was retired from Timken Co. in Gaffney and was a veteran of the SC National Guard for Cherokee county.
Mr. Pace was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg where he and his wife loved to sing. He was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and the Golden Tones. He was a founding member and visionary of the Bicycle Ministry, a former Deacon and served as a leader on many Youth mission trips. Mr. Pace was active in the Pacolet community by advocating youth sports for the area. He was a Shriner and a member of the Trough Shoals Masonic Lodge. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years, Julia, are two daughters, Leigha Pace Keller and husband Tracy of Cannons Campground, and Rebecca Pace Wessinger of Roanoke, VA; a son, Jason Reid Pace and wife Heather of Pacolet; eight grandchildren, Lindler Wessinger, Lydian Wessinger, Amelia Pace, Karlie Patty, Kennedy Patty, Davis Keller, Owen Keller and Lydia Keller; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. Pace was predeceased by a sister, Betty Jean Wylie and two brothers, Roger Pace and Bruce Pace.
The family wishes to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Care, with much love to Paige, Cathy and Susan, for their care and compassion shown to Mr. Pace during his illness.
A musical celebration of life service will be held 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Morningside Baptist Church.
