Mrs. Clara Wigfield Durham, age 87, of Gaffney, widow of Lloyd A. Durham, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at her home.
Mrs. Durham was born August 10, 1933 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Charlie Grant Harmon and Laura Alice Wigfield. She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Gaffney. Mrs. Durham had previously attended Nursing School in Rochester, NY and worked as a nurse briefly before marrying and moving south to start a family.
Surviving are seven children: four sons, Wayne and Adlai Durham of Gaffney, Alvin Durham of Pacolet, and Orville Durham of Spartanburg; three daughters, Carol Collins of Boiling Springs, Susan King of Inman, and Janice Tuck of Lyman; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 45 years, Mrs. Durham was predeceased by an infant son, Winston Edgeworth Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel conducted by the Rev. Larry Melton. Burial will follow at Rehobath Baptist Church.
Mrs. Durham’s grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.
The family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their love and care of Mrs. Durham during her illness.
