Mr. Claudie Haskell Williams, Jr. age 80, of 627 Brown’s Creek Church Rd., Union, widower of Linda Shetley Williams, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

            For fifty-nine years he and Linda walked hand-in-hand building a home, raising children, and serving the Lord. They are now united again, leaving their family and everyone they met along their life journey better for having known them.

            Mr. Williams was born in Columbus, GA, July 11, 1942, a son of the late Claudie H. Williams, Sr. and Daisy Davis Williams. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired as shift foreman for Torrington Co. He was a loyal fan of the Union County Yellow Jackets football and traveled many places to watch them play.

             Mr. Williams was a dedicated Christian, who had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years and was also a member of the choir. He volunteered with Vacation Bible School where he served in many different roles. Mr. Williams was currently a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

            An avid turkey hunter, he was considered to be the “ #1 Turkey Hunter” to his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going on vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN several times a year.

            Surviving are a daughter, Crystal Smith and husband Dan; two sons, Mark Williams and wife Trixie all of Union, and Jamie Williams and wife Jackie of Maggie Valley, NC; a sister, Brenda Shetley of Union; six grandchildren, Keith Williams and wife Erica, Josh Williams and wife Monica, Taylor Millwood and husband Dylan, Ashley Cudd and husband Caleb, Lindsay Vaughan and Lila Reynolds, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Williams was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Kathy H. Williams; four sisters, Naomi Bates, Shirley Brannon, Willie Woods and Louise Black, and four brothers, Bobby, Harold, Ralph and Olin D. Knox.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2022 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Scott. Burial will be at Union Memorial Garden.

            The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 PM Sunday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

            Active pallbearers will be Keith Williams, Josh Williams, Dylan Millwood, Caleb Cudd, Jeff Stepp, Byrd Ivey, Allen Petty and Billy Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Crayne and Kevin Shetley.

            The family will be at the home of his son, Mark and Trixie Williams, 838 Meansville Rd., Union, SC.
