Doris Addison Obituary

            Mrs. Doris Lawson Addison, age 92, wife of Raymond L. Addison passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at Peachtree Center in Gaffney.

            Mrs. Addison was born in Union, July 7, 1929, and was reared in the home of Monroe and Ellen Lawson. She retired after 15 years from Belk Department store and had previously worked at Community Cash for 29 years. She was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church.

            Mrs. Addison was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She collected his memorabilia for many years and learned all about his life and fame.

            Surviving are a daughter, Sandy Montgomery and husband Bill of Union; a sister, Helen Austin of Union; two brothers, James Lancaster and wife Shirley and George Reid Lancaster and wife Mavis all of Union; a brother-in-law, Boyd Adams, Jr. of Union; a grandson, Kevin Montgomery and wife Kelly and great-grandchildren, Mason and Avery Montgomery. She was predeceased by a grandson, Chris Montgomery and a sister, Brenda Adams.

            The family would like to say a special Thank You to Agape Hospice and caregivers, Jamie, Ann, Joyce, Melinda, and Missy for their care of Mrs. Addison during her illness.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, August 30, 2021, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

            Active pallbearers will be Michael Lancaster, Kevin Lancaster, Greyson Lancaster, Steve Trammell, Michael McDade, and Josh Jennings.

            Memorials may be made to Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 216, Union, SC 29379 or to Union Co. Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 951, Union, SC 29379.

            The family will be at the home, 101 Catherine St., Union.
