Mr. E. Eugene Baker, age 78, husband of Elvira Baker of Columbia, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021.
Mr. Baker was born in Union, October 14, 1942, a son of the late E.C. Baker and Maggie Inman Teague and Lynn Teague. He was a 1961 graduate of Union High School and attended Francis Marion University in Florence and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Baker retired as an auditor from the S.C. Department of Revenue. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from the S.C. National Guard. Before his illness he was a member of the Palmetto and Columbia Shag clubs. He loved dancing, music, traveling, and long walks on the beach. Mr. Baker was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Debra Baker and Diane (Sam) Thomas; a son, Charles (Jessica) Baker; a stepdaughter, Kasey Cox; and two stepsons, Chris (Rachel) Edge and Shane (Bridget) Edge. Mr. Baker was also survived by two sisters, Brenda (Garland) Shively and Sophie (Cheryl) Teague; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved pets, Lucy, Tucker and Maggie.
A celebration of life service will be held in the summer.
