Elaine Smith Obituary

Mrs. Elaine Brewington Smith, age 72 wife of Robert L. “Bob” Smith, of 600 Bailey Rd., Union, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Smith was born November 27, 1947 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late James Forrest “Black Cat” Brewington and Ethel Loumandy Haney Brewington.  She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Oakmont Nursing Home as Housekeeping Supervisor.  Mrs. Smith was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.  She was an active member of the DOES and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Amy S. Belue and husband Mickey of Jonesville and Penny S. Bahas of Columbia; a sister, Annette Palmer and husband Dean of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Mary Michael Belue, Tanner Belue, Kalhin Bahas and wife Amber and Nathan Bahas; and a great-grandson, Eli Bahas.  She was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Chaney and Jean Smith.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 2, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Johnny Burgess and Rev. Brian Redding.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. 

Active pallbearers will be Eric Chaney, Terry Wayne Smith, Richie Brown, Roy Turner, David Lee, and Roger Turner.

Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff of Crescent Hospice for their love and care of Mrs. Smith during her illness.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crescent Hospice, 832 Main St., Suite D, Buffalo, SC 29321 or to New Hope Baptist Church, 308 Linersville Road, Buffalo, SC 29321.
