Ellen Pearl Sams

Ms. Ellen Pearl Sams, age 85, formerly of Lockhart, passed away, Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Sams was born December 30, 1935 in Lockhart, a daughter of the late Roscoe S. Sams and Bertha Lowery Sams.  She attended Lockhart Schools and retired from Milliken & Co.  Mrs. Sams was a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church. Pearl enjoyed many activities including working the most difficult jigsaw puzzles, planting and tending to her flowers, and sitting on her front porch watching the hummingbirds she nurtured. 

Pearl's greatest joy came from the times she spent with her family members whom she loved with all her heart. She was truly a "pearl" to her loved ones and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are a niece, Delores G. Wade and companion Steve Bogan of Jonesville; two nephews, Keith Gault and wife Nadie and Freddie Gault and wife Melodi all of Union;  a great-niece, Chapel G. Gregory of Union; four great-nephews, Danny Wade of Palm Beach, FL, Trevor Gault and wife Deb of Greer, Jon Nick Gault and wife Mallory of Greenville, and Jacob Gault of Union; and one great-great-niece, Zoe Gregory of Union.  She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Sams and Rosa Gault.

 Graveside services will be held at 3:30 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. David Bauknight. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.  Due to the current health crisis the family request that those in attendance follow COVID-19 guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing.

Ms. Sams nephews and great-nephews will serve as the active pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family is at their respective homes.
