Elsie "Polly" Austin Dobbs Haney

Mrs. Elsie Austin Dobbs Haney “Polly”, of 211 Linersville Rd., Buffalo, widow of Earl Haney, passed away, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at her home.

Mrs. Haney was born July 6th, a daughter of the late Johnny Lawerence and Grace Rogers Austin.  She was a graduate of Union High School and Cecil’s Business College.  Mrs. Haney retired from AT&T.  She attended Tanglewood Baptist Church.  Mrs. Haney enjoyed evening “meetings” with her Hardee’s friends.  She was first married to the late B.G. Dobbs.

 Surviving are a granddaughter, Marrian Hope Dobbs of Atlanta, GA; a niece, Jane Austin Hitchcock of Chattanooga, TN; her former daughter-in-law, Myra Lathem Cooke of Greenville, SC; a great-nephew, Louis M. (Tripp) Jordan, III of Union; and several close cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Lawrence Clavin “Larry” Dobbs; a brother, John Wesley Austin; and two sisters, Dorothy Austin Ramsey and Nancy Austin Beck. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted Rev. Gerald and Tammy Eaves.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
