Mr. Eugene Grady “Gene” Holcombe, age 80, husband of Willie Dee Vaughan Holcombe of 211 Francis Ave., Union, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Holcombe was born in Union, June 7, 1943, a son of the late Inez Grady. He was retired from Denton Gas Co. and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. Mr. Holcombe was a loving husband, Daddy and full-time Papa.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years, Willie, are two daughters, Tami Solis (Jorge) and Kristi Holcombe (Tim Brandon) all of Union; a sister, Brenda Beheler of Union; and two brothers, Wayne Grady (Mary Ann) and Steve Grady all of Union. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Crystal, Ashley (Frank), Doc (Sloan), Maria, Carmen, Alex, and Micaela, fifteen great-grandchildren, Matthew (Tristen), Chandler (Samantha), Makenzie, Christian, Aaylivia, Ava, Natalie, Jayce, Sam, Ayden, Everleigh, Maverick, Braydyn, Ashton and Eliana, and two great-great grandsons, Tyler and Carter. He was predeceased by a son, Todd Holcombe and three sisters, Joyce Moody, Frances Lawson and Claudia Carroll.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, especially Kacie Bright and to granddaughters, Crystal Holcombe, Ashley Toney, Carmen Solis, and Maria Solis who were his caregivers.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 6, 2023 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Huckabee. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.
Active pallbearers will be Matthew Sizemore, Chandler Sizemore, Alex Holcombe, Christian Solis, Marvin Ashe and Bobby Rogers. Mr. Holcombe’s great-grandsons will serve as the honorary escort.
