Floyd Allen Obituary

Mr. Floyd Watson Allen, age 82, husband of Frances Crisp Allen, 132 Rockport Way, Pacolet, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Upstate Community Hospice House of Landrum.  He was a loving husband, father, and Pop who will be missed by his family, friends, and countless others.

Mr. Allen was born September 26, 1938 in Kannapolis, NC, a son of the late Bruce Watson Allen and Margaret Benfield Allen.  He was a graduate of A.L. Brown in Kannapolis, NC.  He was owner of Union Skate Center and co-owner of Roebuck Family Skate Center.  Mr. Allen was a Veteran of the United States Marine Reserve where he was Lance Corporal during the 1950s and 1960s.  He was a member of Cherokee Springs United Methodist Church of Spartanburg where he was a current choir member and was a former member of the Board of Trustees and a Lay Leader.  Mr. Allen had previously been a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years are three daughters, Jeri Ivey and husband Petey of Union, Teri Newman and husband Bobby of Roebuck, and Timmi Parrish of Roebuck; three sisters, Glenola Peoples and husband Reece of Fayetteville, NC; Patricia Joe Johnson of Giesmar, LA, Gail Duganne of Salisbury, NC; three brothers, Phillip Allen and wife Ann of Kannapolis, Herman Allen and wife Cathy of Kannapolis, and Jerry Allen and wife Linda of Marion, KS; seven grandchildren, Trent Ivey, Alex Parrish, Abigail Parrish, Josie Bay Parrish, Tyler Newman, Dustin Newman and wife Erin, and Miranda Newman; and four great-grandchildren, Rorie Ann Newman, Adeline Newman, Evelyn Newman, and Sloan Melson.  He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Allen of Kannapolis and a sister, Janice Lamarshe from Indiana.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1350 S. Main St., China Grove, NC 28023 conducted by the Rev. Mason Canty and Rev. Andrew Wolfe.

Those that wish to pay their respects to Mr. Allen may stop by Holcombe Funeral Home on Friday, February 19. 2021 after 1:00 PM.

The family would like to thank Upstate Community Hospice, especially Phebe and Katherine for their love and care of Mr. Allen during his illness.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cherokee Springs United Methodist Church, C/O the Building Fund, 2870 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
